You could purchase a Coin guide book so that you can look up each individual coin. Or check with your library.
Click on the source link I posted below for an example.
Or you can take the whole bag to a coin dealer (found in many cities). If you have a lot of coins, he would probably give you a quote for the entire bag. If you have just a few coins, he might give you individual quotes.
Take it to more than one dealer to get different quotes.
You can also use ebay.ca or ebay.com to search individual coins to see what they are selling for.
If you live in Canada no problem see a coin dealer or two. You can also get a price guide from one of those dealers and look the coin up yourself to get an idea of value before bringing them to a dealer. The price guide will be retail values so expect to get at least 40% less. If you are American you have a problem for you need to see a U.S. dealer that deals in Canadian coins and that may not be easy, unless you live near the Canadian border. It pays to go to the right dealer as well as have an idea of the value. If you have a problem sort out the coins by denomination and years, figure coins from the 1800′s have value as well as the silver coins up though the 1940′s. If you can’t get a help or a book let me know what you have sorted out and I maybe of some help.
