Anybody heard of an American $1 coin and I don’t mean the silver dollar.?
I got one in change, same size as the Canadian loonie. It has Liberty on one side and on the other side it says United States of America. I don’t think it is real. It’s only a buck so I don’t care but never seen one

My guess is that you have one of the Sacajawea $1 coins that entered circulation in the year 2000. It is made from a brass colored metal. They are seldom seen in circulation, but quite genuine.
More information, with photos, can be found at the link below:

There were also $1 coins with a portrait of Susan B. Anthony (same size as the Sac dollar but same metallic composition as the US dime and quarter. Those are dated 1979 and 1980 (also made for collector sets in 1981, and resurrected briefly dated 1999).
In 2007, the US started a series of $1 coins featuring presidents of the US. The first four are now in circulation. On those, the date and mint mark are on the edge.
That would be the liberty dollar. yes it’s real. there is also a gold one too.
Yes they do exist.
There was the Sacagawea dollar a couple of years back. This time around they are introducing a "Presidents" line of 1 dollar coins. Each coin has a picture of a President on it strating with George Washington.
there are quite a few 1 dollar coins, other than the silver dollar,
there is the sackajuweea coin, the susan b anthony coin, and I wouldn’t be surprised to learn there are others out there.
There are several. The Sacajewa is the most recent, but there was a Susan B. Anthony one minted in the 80′s. These are usually given back as change in vending machines (the ones which accept 20s, for example). There is also a new series of $1 coins coming out with 5 presidents on them (separately).
