I just use them as change while shopping. Most shops & resturants will take them for their equivlant in American money.
Of course it’s worth something!
The exchange rate as of today is:
$1 CAD = $0.9439 USD
Therefore:
$9.19 CAD = ~$8.67 USD
They sure worth in the US (coin shops). Some of them worth a fortune.
Canadian coins are worthwhile to sell at coin stores, but most businesses will not take them unless they are quite close to the US/Canadian border because it is really hard to turn them in for cash. Most small banks won’t take them either, for the same reason. If you live in a large city and the money is current, you can take them to a large bank’s branch and convert them at the daily conversion rate.
My husband used to work on vending equipment and his company would just collect all of the Canadian quarters until they had at least $100.00 then would take them to the largest bank in town and trade them in. That is the only way they could get the money for them.
Do you know anyone who will be traveling to Canada on vacation? Sell the money to them. Is the money old? A coin store would be the best choice for selling the coins and paper money.
they are good for toll booths and parking meters.
You cannot use them as currency in the US (that is called COUNTERFEITING.
Hang onto them, as the US economy continues to slide into a depression that will rival a third world African country, they will be worth more.
