Are Canadian Silver Maple leaf bullion coins GST exempt in Canada?
I just bought a bunch of Silver Maple leaf coins on ebay from a seller in the States. When my package arrived I had to pay about dollars to Canada customs in GST. I thought that bullion was now exempt from GST. Does anyone know if the silver maple leafs qualify as GST exempt. There is an option to appeal to Canada customs to get the GST i payed back. I just want to know if it is worth it to go through the process.
Thanks

I’ve looked all over the internet, and the only reference I could find to Canada’s treatment of bullion for GST purposes was four versions of your question, here and at three discussion boards, and a discussion board that talked about Australia’s GST treatment of bullion. Even a search of the Revenue Canada site turned up zero about bullion.
Sorry. But for $30, I’d file the forms.
