Are you letting your kids eat candy that’s poisoned with Melamine?

There is a new warning put out by the Canadian Food InspectionAgency….
Sherwood brand Pirate’s Gold Milk Chocolate coins are being recalled due to the fact that they contain Melamine, the ingredient in milk product that has caused many infant deaths in china. These candies are sold at Costco, as well as many bulk and dollar stores. please make sure to check your children’s Halloween candy and DO NOT LET THEM EAT THE PIRATE COINS (you know the ones wrapped in the shiny gold foil) and please let other parents know about this!
Did you know about this?
Snopes is a site that verifies and debunks ‘urban legends’ - and gives sources about why they are or aren’t true. Maybe try going to it before you bother typing- huh? *rolling eyes*
Here is a link to the consumer advisory board that does work: http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/corpaffr/recarapp/2008/20081008e.shtml

Yes, we had some of the coins and Costco informed us of the recall. We returned the product for a refund but not before we (my family and I) ate half the container! I am sick over this as I am 11 weeks pregnant. The funny thing about this is that upon tasting one of the coins I thought to myself "Gross, this tastes like plastic." Little did I know that I was right! I didn’t eat many (thank God) but damage may already be done. I’m praying that everything will be OK. My kids are both fine but I worry about the one under construction. Never thought something like this would affect my family. Thanks for the warning to others.
No, I didn’t know this. Thanks for keeping us parents updated.
Thank you..
Don’t buy food / drinks / vitamins / etc. from China.
No way! I have become very careful about what my kids eat/drink. I found out a year ago that Juicy Juice, which is a VERY popular juice in the US for children gets their apples from China now! So, I stopped buying it after years of serving it to my kids. As parents, we must be very diligent and we must not allow this to happen to our children. thank you for your info.
I did hear about this from my aunt but I dont think they are doing enough about it. Almost everyone I tell it to doesnt even have a clue that they have been recalled. It was a very good idea to post this on here and make sure you tell everyone with children about this. And if you know anyone who is giving this away please tell them to dispose of it or return it DO NOT give it out!!
Yes, I had heard about this. Thanks for taking the time to inform parents of this possible danger. It’s such a shame with all the recalls now days. It seems like nothing can be safe anymore.
Yes, I did know about this, but thinks for letting others know. This should be on the freakin’ news!
no i did not thank you!
Uh, your link doesn’t work…but you do know what the Snopes site is, right? It’s a site about urban legends, i.e. things that aren’t true.
