Can I take Canadian coins to a bank to convert to American dollars?

I have worked for a few banks. Aron is right. Most banks will not accept it as it is too expensive to ship to the FCE. It would be more than the currency itself. Some FCE booths will accept the change

Most banks and currency exchange places in the US won’t take foreign coins, only banknotes (paper money).

(Just mentally substitute Canadian dollars for Yen, or Pounds, in that answer and the ones linked from it.)
If you happen to live in or near a US city or town that is very near or bordering Canada, there’s a greater chance that a bank, currency exchange firm, or merchant, will accept Canadian coins, if at a modest discount.
On both sides of the US/Canadian border, there is at least some informal interchangeability of the two currencies.
