Well, it makes it difficult being that each coin has a certain weight, and is mixed with different metals to give that specific weight. So, if you were to counterfeit a coin, you would have to create the exact same design as, let’s say, a quarter, and you have make it match with the same weight. It just takes too much effort. Plus, bills are worth more.

Here in the UK an estimated 2.5% of £1 coins are counterfeit and Sterling can’t be the only currency with this problem.
You can often spot a fake in your possession and you are supposed to hand them in but, as that will leave you out of pocket, most people just spend them as fast as possible.
