I highly doubt there will be any effect. It is doubtful that Canada had anything to do with those coins, after all why $*!t in your own back yard?
Canada is a good neighbour, these coins are a product of France.
From what I’ve read it isn’t even certain that the Canadian government is responsible.
The story was actually retracted over a day ago. The allegations are unfounded.

Unfortunately the retraction was only printed in all major Canadian and British news papers. It didn’t seem to make it to the American Press. Funny how that happens.
