Do Canadians find American coins in their change?

I find the occasional dime or quarter in my change now and then. Usually it’s the penny, and it doesn’t make any differance to a purchase with the rate of the dollar lol!
The only time it’s a problem is when trying to us a vending machine, the American change just doesn’t work
On the occasions where I’ve been in Canada, I’ve gotten American change in with my Canadian change on a few occasions. It’s usually pennies, but it really won’t happen as much as the other way around, since the US dollar has been worth more than the Canadian dollar for so long.
(Now that the currencies are closer in value to one another, I wouldn’t be surprised if it were happening more and more often.)

Yes, we find American coins in our change all the time. Generally they are pennies however 5, 10, and 25 cent coins can also be found from time to time. For all intents and purposes, we use them as we would regular change, especially the pennies. Personally I tend to collect the other change for when I head across the border to the US.
I do a lot. The banks dont treat American change the same as dollars though. If you went in with $5 in quarters, you would get $5 in Canadian with no exchange. (same with pennies, etc)
When I was in Louisiana a few years ago, they refused to accept a Canadian penny I had as part of other change. They said they got so many down there it made them lose money when they deposited. (I said BS…but she still wouldnt take it)
