I found a coin.?
Are there any coin collectors out there? It is a 1966 penny, that sounds like a dime when you drop it, it is shiney and it has fuzzy edges instead of crisp lines. Is it a counterfeit?

Take it to a coin collector shop.
It’s still just a penny that happened to get a little roughed up.
nop it is just old. but to be sure take it to a lab and break down the components.
It’s real. 1966 is not eveb that old. It’s still only worth one cent. the weird sound it makes is probably because back in the day the edges were lined with silver.
Not that old,it has to be under the 1950 mark to be worth something more than a penny sometimes.
I doubt it’s counterfeit but it my be an error.
I also doubt it is an error but if yo take a good picture and find out the coins weight and ask the question again you may find more answers.

By the way certain modern coins sell for more then coins that are 1,000 years old.
Pennies were never lined with anything. They were copper, but now a zinc alloy. A ’66 penny is just that…a penny.
my goodness! you act like you found a coin that was made 1000 years ago or something! it is a 1966 and you know that was only 40 years ago! oh my thats old isnt it! Take the coin and spend it instead of thinking you found $1,000,000 or something! come on get real!

Fuzzy edges are just a sign of circulation. The penny is copper and modern dimes are no longer silver, so they could make similar sound especially since they are about the same size. As for shiny, could be many things: polished, went through laundry, etc. I doubt it’s a counterfeit: the original is not rare, so it would not make any sense to copy such a coin.
it is old (if you are very young yourself) but not of any value.
