What you have is called a Tombac nickel due to what it is made of. nickel was an item needed in the war effort back in 1942. There are two types one has a beaver on it and it trends for .50 in grade very good to $2 in grade extra fine. The other type has a V on it no beaver and it trends for .30 in grade very good to .75 in grade extra fine. A trends price is an average of what a dealer sells the coin for. They pay 40 to 50 percent less.
canadian money worth anything? pfff lol
You can look on ebay and see if anyone else is selling the same coin.
It depends on the condition of the nickel. If there are any knicks on it, it will certainly reduce its value. At first, I didn’t think that our nickels were any other colour than the silver that they are now, but I think we may have one in the basement and it is almost a brass colour as opposed to the copper of a penny.
Be careful evilstewie - the Canadian dollar is catching up!!! Chances are that your nickle has some copper in it. If it’s been circulating since 1942 it’s probably quite worn and worth only 5 cents!
