Julius Caesar was given a gold coin dated 48 B.C. He immediately knew it had to be counterfeit. Why?

How would he know about AD or BC?
because the romans didnt use money….and that is after he died….
It wasn’t the year 48, yet
Caesar lived before Christ. Romans counted their years in relation to the supposed founding date of the Roman Republic -A.U.C. (ab urbe condita). There was no Before Christ, or Anno Domini (In the year of our Lord) dates, because there was no Christ or Christianity yet.
Duh…….
His picture was on it.
It wouldn’t say B.C.
Back in Julius Caesar’s time they didn’t consider themselves to be living in B.C. That happened later as a reference to the "Before Christ" time, or B.C.E. "Before Christian Era" time. How would they know the Christ or Christian era would start? It happened later. Money wouldn’t be created with a B.C. date on it, nobody would know what it meant.
because when he looked at it he knew details and thing were not right
How would the people who minted the coin know when christ was going to be born as it was 48 years before the event
How would anyone know to put B.C. on a coin (or anything else) before there was a ‘C’ (Christ)?
Way too easy. Nobody got fooled…oh wait a couple people did. Everyone knows counterfeit money wasn’t even invented until 1978 (AD).
Julius Caesar lived before Christ. BC wouldn’t have been printed on coins then.
