Prices of toys ar garage sales?
When I was about 12 years old, I went through all my old toys and gave them to my aunt to have at her house for her grandchildren to play with while they were visiting. She took several out of the boxes for them to play with, and left the rest in our joint storage room. We didn’t think anything of it because the kids play room was under construction. Now two years later and them still sitting there, she finally admitted that she doesn’t think she has the room for them (she later decided to make the room half storage and half their play room).
My cousin called me and told me that she’s having a yard sale in several weeks and I can get rid of them there. I think its great because I am saving up for various things in my future, so I’ll sell what I can and give the rest to charity. The only problem is now I have no idea what everything is worth. I don’t want to over charge for anything, but like I said I’m trying to save for my future so I want to get my money’s worth too. I was always good with my toys, so they are all in good condition. Nothing is all that old, I’d say 2-6 years at the most. Much of it is still sold on the store shelves. The stuff I have is:
-Doll furnature (strollers, play pen etc.)
-Polly Pockets
-Dolls
-Stuffed animals
-blocks
-lego
-barbies and accessories
-kids books and novels
I you have bought/sold any of these items, what was the price? (CANADIAN OR AMERICAN CURRENCY PLEASE, I DON’T MIND ANSWERS FORM THE EUROPEAN UNION IF YOU TRANSLATE THE CURRENCY TO CANADIAN!!)
I’LL ALSO ACCEPT ANSWERS OFF OTHER TOYS YOU HAVE BOUGHT TOO, LIKE I SAID, I HAVEN’T LOOKED AT THIS STUFF IN TWO YEARS SO I’M NOT ENTIRELY SURE OF EVERYTHING I HAVE!!
THANKS SOOO MUCH!
Additional Details
The doll funrature was the Greco minature doll set from Sears, Its an expensive set and I only played with it for several years, so its almost brand new.
Also the polly pockets are the new large ones, not the pencil ersaser sized ones they used to make.
For the record, I’m not interested in making enough money to fund uni or anything, but I do want to get my money’s worth

Ok I hope this helps.
Take all the stuffed animals, put them in a box with a price of 75 cents each.
The furniture,I would ask a bit more. Dealers and collectors will latch on to them and pay more. They will also like the barbies and clothes.
You would be surprised what people will pay for them. The smaller items I would place in lunch bags and make grab bags for $1 & $2 depennding on what you place in them. I hope this gives you some ideas. Good Luck !
Garage sales are cheap, that’s why people go. Most people hold them to get rid of old junk, not make any serious cash. I wouldn’t charge more than a couple 1-3 dollars for each item. Blocks and stuffed animals like 50 cents. The doll furniture maybe 3 bucks. Books are usually like 25-50 cents too.
The purpose of a garage sale is to get rid of stuff that you don’t want. Otherwise, why bother. Forget about how much you paid for it and how many times it was played with because your shoppers won’t care.
I have found that I have the best luck when I group things together. Say a Barbie doll, an outfit and some accessories in a bag. Maybe price at $1.00. Or put all the shoes and purses into a bag by themselves and price them at $.50 or $.75.
We recently sold a LittleTykes plastic kitchen (one piece) that had a stove, sink, cabinet and some dishes for $20.00.
Children’s Books, if in good shape with no markings on the pages, probably $.25 each. Chapter books, $.50 each.
Stuffed animals will be hard to get rid of. Maybe $.25 each. You could wash them up and donate them to a children’s home or to a domestic violence shelter for women and children.
The Legos and Blocks, depending on how many you have, maybe $3 for the sack or box.
Dolls (if they are dirty, wash them or they won’t sell) probably will sell for $1 each.
Sorry but you’re in the wrong business if you want your money’s worth. You obviously don’t want the items and a garage sale is to sell things cheap just to get rid of them. The other answers gave you reasonable prices, just go with it and consider any money "extra" since your stuff has just been sitting there for years and you don’t want/play with it anymore. Pricing it to high to get your money’s worth means you will have a lot of items left over and no money.
