What Denise said was correct, but I’ll just elaborate a bit on the political part of it. It’s hard to give a specific number.
In the ferderal (canadian) government, the current party in power is the Conservative party. They have a minority of seats in the house of commons at the moment, and the second-largest party is the Liberal party. The third-largest is the Bloc Québecois, who represent the Quebec Nationalists, and fourth is the New Democratic Party. There are other parties as well such as the Green party, and Marijuana party, and the Marxist-Lenonist (communist) party, however these parties don’t currently have any seats.
So in the federal government, there are currently FOUR parties in the house of commons. For a list of all parties go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_federal_political_parties_in_Canada .
In Quebec, it’s a whole other system. The current party in power in the Quebec Provincial government is the Parti libéral du Québec, second-largest is the Parti québécois (nationalist), third is the Action démocratique du Québec, and fourth (holding only one seat in the Assemblée Nationale) is the Québec solidaire. For a list of all parties go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_parties_in_Quebec .
1. There are currently four parties represented in the House of Commons, as well as one independent MP. These parties are:
- The Conservative Party of Canada (which currently forms the government)
- The Liberal Party of Canada (which currently leads the Opposition)
- The Bloc Quebecois (Quebec-French Party…)
- The New Democratic Party (Far left)
2. It’s called the loonie because there is a loon on it.
3. Ice Hockey and Lacrosse
4. The French speakers.
1. there are a bunch of parties but the main ones are the Liberals and Conservatives, although you could also throw in the NDPs and the Green Party. the rest of the parties besides those are too small.
2. there’s a picture of a loon on it
3. ice hockey and lacrosse
4. french mostly, though i’m english and i use them a lot.
