Scientific method question..please help me..you can simply answer the question..?
1) your friend does her own washing and develops skin rashes every time. she suspects the detergent as the cause of rashes. however, she gives up her suspicion when a neighbor using the same brand does not develop rashes.
a. is your friend being scientific in giving up her suspicion about the detergent as the possible cause of the rashes? explain your answer..
b.plan a way to test whether or not the detergent cause the rashes..

2)a doctor studying causes of throat cancer. he finds out that some of his patients with throat cancer are usually teachers, public speakers or habitual alcoholic drinkers. but all are chain smokers. what hypothesis can he make about the possible cause of throat cancer?
3)you are given three piles of 10-peso coins. one pile is made up of counterfeit coins, heavier than the genuine ones. explain how you can pick out the pile of counterfeit coins in a one-step procedure , using an equal-arm balance.
4)commercial feeds for chickens are very expensive . find some local substitutes for these feeds that require simple methods of preparation. Plan an investigation which apply the scientific method to this particular problem.

1a. No, she is not being scientific because she is not controlling the variables in her experiment.
1b. In order to create a valid experiment, she would need to control all of the variables. She could do this by using the same detergent for one week without changing anything else and collecting data about her skin rash. She could then try another detergent for a week and chart the differences. She cannot allow her friend to be one of the subjects because everybody has his or her own reaction to different chemicals.
2. Hypothesis: Because all of the patients are smokers, this would be the most likely cause of throat cancer.
3. Sorry … no clue!
4. Oh dear … not sure on this one, either.
