Here's an old piece of paranoia revisited…?

Those evil Canadians spying on our defense contractors by putting microphones in coins.

This story makes no sense. What if they spend the coins?

This is a repeat of a story that happened during the cold war, and it made no sense then either.

I think the idea is to make people think the world is spying on the poor little US of A. Like… Continue reading

When a simple coin, is regarded as an object of suspicion, THAT is when the terrorists have won.
America, you are now paranoid beyond reason.
Here is the story in case you missed it;

It’s making headlines here too but usually under the heading of "moronic americans think our poppy coin is some kind of spy technology. LOL aren’t you glad you’re a Canadian?"
That’s the kind of… Continue reading

TORONTO - The soaring Canadian dollar closed above US.05 on Wednesday for the first time in decades and appears headed for uncharted waters as a combination of factors pushes it further and further ahead of the American currency.
The Canadian dollar ended the official trading day in Toronto at 105.85 cents US. That’s the highest closing price for the loonie since Aug. 21, 1957 and… Continue reading

How did Yahoo get this suggestion wrong?

When I asked:

"Why have the Canadians embraced their dollar coin (the loonie & the toonie), while in America it’s rarely used?"

Yahoo suggested this question belongs in the
"Society & Culture > Cultures & Groups > Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered" category (Huh?!?)… Continue reading

If you had to design a global currency, what would you put on it?

US coins have "In God we trust" printed on them. Canadian coins feature wildlife. Some Ethiopian bills have waterfalls, others beehives. In Brazil you can find money with birds and dancers and snakes.

Taken from Yahoo currency conversions

I imagine the manufacturing section is nervous - it had been selling to US markets with a 60 cent dollar for years now - That competitive edge is gone -
