What are the deductions from a pension received in Canada under the Japan Canada International Agreement?

I returned to Canada after working several years in Japan. I have started receiving a pension from Japan which is is less than the monthly amount I was told I would receive. Given the currency exchange rate difference I should be receiving more in Canadian dollars than the monthly amount in Japanese yen. Instead, I am receiving a lot less in CAD than the JPY amount. Can anyone enlighten me as to deductions that would be taken off my pension amount by the Japanese government before it is transferred to my bank account here in Canada?
