Portuguese escudo
The Muse
Escudos I think. And it was not worth much then or now. Even less now since it is no longer valid currency.
This is most likely a 2-1/2 Escudos coin from Portugal. Those were very common, low-value coins struck in copper-nickel, and would be essentially valueless today. That’s both because Portuga converted their currency six years ago to the Euro, and because the coin was minted in large quantity - 60 million - so it is not of interest to most collectors. It was also struck in a low value base metal, not in silver or another metal that would itself have melt value.
You do have a 2 1/2 Escudos it is KM# 590 and is made of copper/nickel. It had a mintage of 60,142,000. There is not much call for coins that are small and a low denomination outside the country of origin. Like Canada and here in the states, cents are collected, but few in Europe collect U.S. or Canadian cents. It is a coin that would be inexpensive for a collector of say one coin from each country. It is an inexpensive way to collect but a collection one would never finish. I have a few of those types. The coin sells for .10 to .25 cents in a coin dealers world coin box.
