Why are Canadian coins found in American circulation?
I notice that I sometimes get Canadian coins as change. My question: If the federal reserve note is the current USA currency why do people use Canadian coins and does the coins have any value for trade in the USA?

With the exception of the Dollar the two country’s coins are almost exactly the same size. You are going to have to find a pretty old coin to have a chance of making a profitable trade with a coin dealer; otherwise, the exchange rate is nearly the same.
The coinage is about the same value, so most people just pass it along. You may collect some up and take it to the bank, and they’ll give you the correct amount in American coins.
