The images used on Canadian coins are all created by local Canadian artists, who are asked to submit their work to be judged. One engraving is selected among the best they receive and chosen to be used on the coin.
In the case of the Queen’s profile, the coin changed at least twice so far to show a more modern likeness of her majesty. As she has aged, so have the coin images been updated appropriately.
The modern version was selected and the artist (Susanna Blunt) chose to show the monarch as she would look attending functions in a modern era. She rarely wears the crown except for special occasions, and so it was not included on her head. There was no political motive for this.
I don’t think there was any political or symbolic motive for leaving it off. There have been three portraits of the Queen on Canadian coins, the first used from 1965 to 89 showing the Queen as a young woman the way she looked at the time of her corination, so the crown was important to show. The 1990 to 2003 version shows her as a mature woman with a crown, and in 2003 the portrait was updated again to more realisticly- and in a dignified way, I think- portray the Queen in her old age. Perhaps the crown was left off for greater realism, since she never actually wears one in her public appearances.
If you take a good look at the coins, the crown is still there. She is not wearing it, but there is a small circle with the crown inside. The crown is an important symbol,it`s not on here head ,since when do you see her wearing a crown.
