With the CAD coming closer and closer to the USD, would it be wise for North America to consider a NAD?
The Canadian dollar has been climbing steadily recently vs. the US dollar. Would it be a good idea to have a shared currency with our neighbours to the south?

The two counties could do this at any time. It doesn’t depend on the value of the CAD verus the USD.
For example, suppose the CAD was worth 2 US dollars on Jan. 1, 2008. The Canadian central bank could make an offer to trade all USDs in circulation for CADs. The exchange rate would be a CAD for every 2 US dollars turned into the central bank.
If everyone holding dollars volunteered to this exchange, it would happen without the consent of the US government!
