If it is made from two real coins it can not be a counterfeit. That is the wrong term, correct term fantasy coin and yes it is a magicians coin. It is also a fun conversation item. This type item is very old and has been around for a good many years. The Canadian 1/2 dollar is just a bit smaller than the Kennedy 1/2 and when the Kennedy 1/2 is hollowed out fits right in there. Since the dies for Canadian coins are in Canada and the US coin dies are at the mints here it becomes an impossibility to have a coin with one country on one side and one on the other.
It is strictly a fantasy piece. Possibly a magicians coin. The two countries each have their own minting facilities and there is no way (for security reasons) dies from one country would be available at the others mint.
Sounds like an interesting piece though.
It is likely you have a trick two-headed counterfeit made from two legitimate coins. The usual place for the seam between the two pieces on this type of coin is not the edge (or third side) but just inside the raised rim. Check it out. It is possible that this coin was manufactured, but one of the dies would have had to travel to the other mint and have been used in the production of this coin. Again, not likely. I hope this helps.
