What are the odds of recieving a Canadian penny?
I was sorting the coins in my wallet and stumbled upon a Canadian penny this is out of the ordinary to me seeing as I live in the United States and have never been to Canada. I am 100% positive I recieved this penny from making purchases and I was wondering what the chances of recieving a Canadian penny in the U.S. It seems odd to wonder this I suppose, but I’m really hoping to get answers it doesnt have to be a ratio or anything but if you could tell me i you’ve recieved one in the U.S. or something…haha Thanks:)

It depends on how close you are to Canada, I live in Seattle, so it’s pretty common to get Canadian pennies here. About 1 in 25 are Canadian.

I dont know how often people get them, but I get them all the time when i buy something and get change. I get Canadian Quarters too.
Ive gotten a Canadian penny twice as well as euros thinking they were quarters 0_o
I’ve received a few over my life time, they are similar looking at first glance, so a lot of people don’t even notice. With how many pennies I’ve handled though the ratio would have to be pretty extreme, but it’s hardly uncommon.
Not so odd actually…It happens, It has happened to me about 8 times in my life time. they look a lot like US penny’s and so they get through easy enough.
