What/who is the perfect kid?
Dear parents,
Ok, I know it may be a bit weird, but I really want to be the "perfect" child to my parents. I am 15, and so far, my grades are meh, meaning As, and a few Bs…they are decreasing from last term especially, like last year I was a straight A student, anywho, I go to a very tough private school, so the learning is much harder, I go accepted into a "special" math class for the top 5 students in my grade, which is equal to getting (in a public school) 1 year ahead challenged math. I love to write poetry, and am constantly writing it, I am not continuing the sports I was doing like a few months back, I collect coins, my friends are few, but the few I have the sweetest ones out there, they would give up their lives for me. I always do chores when they ask me and sometimes for no reason at all, I play an insturment, and I love to paint! I spend ALOT of money on clothes, and I know I shouldn’t but I recently lost ALOT of weight, and absically needed a new wardrobe…thats another issue, they think I am dieting…when I am perfectly normal….so any suggestions?? Or just what in your mind is a perfect kid?
OTHER FACTS
-At age 13 I started my own Charity (my parents donated hundreds of dollars to it)
-I DO fight with sibs
-There are disagreements, but I never say "i hate you" or something stupid like that
THANKS

Well, no person in the world is 100% perfect, but you sound like a wonderful daughter! Good for you! As for losing the weight, if you weren’t overweight before, then it wasn’t entirely necessary, but I guess as long as you didn’t starve yourself or make yourself too skinny, and lost the weight in a healthy way by getting more exercise, then there’s nothing wrong with it. But yeah, I’m the same way with my parents. Of course I don’t consider myself to be a perfect person- I have flaws just like everyone else in the world, but I do strive to be the best daughter and person that I can be. I have a great relationship with both my parents and I can’t recall the last time I fought with them! They love all of my friends too, because I make sure to hang out with the right people!
There is no such thing as a perfect kid, sweetie. Kids are people and people are simply not perfect.
You didn’t say why you wanted to be perfect, but that always send up red flags for me. If you were my child, I’d rather see you happy, healthy, and full of joy than worrying about being perfect.
All the best.
