Canadian Day celebrates Independence from British Rule, so why is the Queen still on their money?
The first thing that you do is to change the monetary system, then the governmental system, right? Is that not what just happened in the middle east, took Saddam off the notes and coins. Also, why is thier governmental set up still aimed toward the Queen? For example a crime commited will be expressed in court as "so and so" against the Queen? Is this just a joke, sure we will give you your independance but your money and judicial, legislative and executive system will belong to us!?! Has anyone ever thought of this before?

Canada Day doesn’t celebrate Canadian Independence, it celebrates Confederation which occurred on July 1, 1867. Canada was not officially independent until the Statute of Westminster was passed on Dec. 11, 1931.
It would be very complicated to change Canada to a republic. For example all treaties between native bands and the Crown would have to be renegotiated. The procedure for amending the Canadian Constitution so awkward that it’s probably just never going to happen. In the end we just have more important things to do than worry about our symbolic head of state.
The currency isn’t British, it just has the Queen on it. The Queen is only the symbolic head of state, Canada is independent. Australia has the Queen on their money too.
For the same reason that all the other countries that where British colonies and that now have their Independence still have the Queen on their currency. She is their head of state, their monarch. It isn’t a joke, any more than W is the head of state for the USofA government. Except that is a joke, isn’t it?
It was an ageed separation. we became independant but remained allies and friends. the queen is still the head of state and a has a figure head representative appointed by the Govt’
Canada is still a part of the commonwealth. Canada day is to celebrate becoming our own country. not forcefully getting out of rulership.

As far as the law books of CANADA, several have been trying to
make an MODERN and UPDATED vesion… Problem is, the
basic canadian laws are based on the British Common laws,
and so it takes YEARS before changing any laws….
If I remember right, CANADA’s law books STILL have some laws
that pertains to witches… yes, still in 2000…..
How to review all this…slowly… just like the constitution gave
humman rights to their black community, but they still had to wait to 1950 or so to be admitted to college, etc…

Their should be a special commisions created simply to update
laws in every country for that matter……
