Are militant atheists and fundamentalist religionists just heads and tails of the same counterfeit coin?
The regretable human tendency towards extremism and strident control-freak militancy isn’t just a religious or atheist weakness. Their true enemies are those of us in the middle, which, according to Aristotle and Buddha is where the truth lies.

No, don’t be ridiculous. Atheists and religious people are not even in the same ballpark. The opposite of religious people are the people within religion themselves; they are the people of opposing religions. A coin is a bad analogy for religion; you need a geometric shape with many sides to provide an accurate analogy for religion. Or really a sphere with no fixed states, because there really is an infinite number of crazy things that people can believe so there is an infinite number of crazy religions and each one is the opposite of the other but none are the opposite of atheism.
No and no.
yes: without a doubt
You may have a valid point. I dont like extremists of ANY kind.
No but nice try.
NO WAY.. they may have some similarities like realizing that if something is true its true for all or its mere opinion. Unlike fence sitters and moderate religious folks who think you make truth up as you go (absurd notion)
Moderate religious people are the other side of coin of fundamentals
That seems a bit fundamental doesn’t it? It seems that you place an awful lot of trust (at least in this question) in Aristotle and Buddha.
Fundamentalism is essentially setting minimum requirements and limits to what a person believes in order to call them one of your own. As an atheist, I believe everybody is a human just like me, and I make no distinction between a fool who is an atheist, a fool who is a Christian, or a fool who is an agnostic, they are all fools if they are steeped in intellectual folly. If I must, I will speak from their perspective if they will not allow me to use my own words. That is fine, at least I can hope to get the principles across the gap that exists between two people who define things differently.
I believe so a hundred percent. Extremity is generally bad, and those two are no exception.
No, militant atheists and militant fundies are very different. The religious fundamentalists need to be sterilized.
