Can you mix Canadian coins and US coins to make a US dollar? (Use Canadian dimes for example)?
Just wondering. I have a lot of change from my trip to Vancouver.

if you use it as change, ie, under $1.00, there is no exchange rate, it is accepted at par. ie something costs $1.79, pay with an american dollar bill, 7 canadian dimes a nickel and 4 pennies. no big deal with the exchange it’s only pennies on the dollar.
That is not legal but if you mix a small amount in with your change you can pass them off easily. I was a cashier and I wouldn’t say anything unless it was obvious. Then I would pass them to the first jerk I found in my line.
Depends on who you want to give it to. Now Canadian money is worth less than US and some merchants have no way to exchange it. Make sure you disclose what you’re doing.
No. You’ll have to exchange one for the other at an embassy or maybe the bank
Go to a bank and exchange them. A Canadian dollar is worth less than a US dollar. It is up to the store as to whether or not to accept foreign currency, and in the US they will not almost 100% of the time.
