should i buy him an xbox 360 or a ps3?
my husband is a bit of a gamer and has always enjoyed racing and stealth games. hes also a fan of rpg games like grand theft auto. hes got a ps2 now, hes on his second. its starting to bite the dust however. we’ve also got a nintendo wii, but i was looking to upgrade the ps2. naturally, that would point me towards a ps3 but at a 499.99 price tag for the one thats backwards compatible, i was debating the xbox 360 at the middle level, the 399.99 package (all canadian currencies).ive heard him complain about how he doesnt like xbox controllers, but he will use one at a buddies house. ive also heard him comment how he likes the larger selection of games on the xbox 360. i dont know which one to buy him! what do you think a young guy would prefer? and what is most cost efficient (we have a young baby so i dont want to go TOO crazy). thanks!

Buy an Xbox 360 Arcade, most of the games the PS3 will have will also be available on the Xbox 360. There are more exclusives on the Xbox 360 than the PS3, his friend has an Xbox 360 so playing online with his friend will be a bonus.
He’s not looking for Xbox backward compatibility so he can do without the hard drive (for now), he can always purchase at a later date on ebay if he eventually decides he wants one.
Go with the PS3, It will be around 10 years unlike the 360 and it has a more powerful 8 core’s cell processor compared to the 3 core’s in 360. To play online it is completely free, unlike the 360 which cost’s $60 a year. The PS3 also uses a standard laptop hard drive which is cheap to upgrade unlike the 360 which uses a special hard drive that is way overpriced. The PS3 also has a HD Blu-Ray movie player, unlike the 360 which sells a HD-DVD drive separately for an extra $200, and finally the PS3 has a WiFi built in and the 360 cost’s exta $80. In the end the PS3 is a better value.
okay, so, i can’t absolutely recommend either, but i can give you some guidelines that will help you out.
1. Do you have a HDTV? If so the ps3 may be the better deal. The ps3 will play Blu Ray disc movies while the 360 can only play DVDs. Keep in mind that places like Blockbuster will let you check out as many Blu Ray movies as you like (2 at a time i think) for like 20 a month. Which to me is an incredible value since high def players and movies are still pretty expensive. The 360 can play HD DVDs, however it requires a $150 upgrade
2. Do you have wireless internet in the house?
If so, you may like how the $500 ps3 has built in WiFi. Whereas the 360 requires a $100 upgrade to connect wirelessly.
If you answered yes to either of the above questions than i would recommend the ps3 for your husband. The ps3 is more expensive but it has a lot more in the way of ‘extra features’ that really make it worthwhile for some people. Also, the ps3 will have a lot of titles that are sequels to games your husband probably plays on the ps2, like Metal Gear Solid, Rachet and Clank.
The case for a 360.
It has a great variety of top titles right now whereas the cream of ps3 titles won’t be on shelves for several months. Also, the 360 has a superior online experience(that will cost $50 a year).
In conclusion.
You aren’t going to go wrong either way. Your husband will probably be happy with either system. In my opinion, the ps3 has overall better potential to impress in the future(maybe a year?) while the 360 has already met it’s potential. Also, if your husband loved his ps2, he is going to love a ps3.
With the ps3 having one maybe 2 good games it wil most likely be sitting in your living room as a nice shiny ornament, but with the 360 you have lots of games, plus an online experience that ps3 cannot hope to contend with. you want to know why the ps3 is free online because it is so laggy charging you woud be like pooring hot sauce on a cut
Tricky question to answer but here goes…
With the price cut for ps3`s now, they are affordable Prices vary in shops or on line but not by a huge amount. The 360 can be a little noisy (because of the fans in it) the ps3 is a little quieter. As for games the 360 has a shed load of games available now & is backwards compatable but only to a few select games. You say his friends have a 360 so it might be a good thing to get this machine beacuse he can borrow games from them & visa versa.
Trouble is,to enjoy the full experience of these next gen games & consoles,a up-grade of television is needed, some will argue that this is rubbish but this is a different thing but connected.
I have a 360 & its a good console & i had a ps2 before & enjoyed the games but this machine is good for games. The ps3 price tag is for the Blue ray player with it.Where about the 360 is just a games console, you can add a external dvd player too it but (as far as i Know) only the one microsoft do.
Ask his friends (on the quiet !!) & see if he preferrs the 360 or ps3.
Buy him a Xbox 360 pro. 360′s have better graphics, funner games, more memory, plus a three year warranty.
