I have some old money. What is it worth?

I have a small collection of old and foreign money, and I wonder if it is worth anything. All money is American unless otherwise specified.

1941 wheat penny
1973 Canadian bill
2002 Bahamian bill
1976 bicentennial quarter
2000 Bahamian dime
two 1979 Susan B. Anthony dollars
1987 Bahamian dime

plus some Sacagawea dollar coins and stylized Jefferson nickels, but I think those are just worth face value
Oh, and… Continue reading

Giving cash and coins at an Indian/Canadian wedding?

I’ve heard that when you give cash as a gift for an Indian wedding, you should add to the amount to symbolize that the money will never end. But here in Canada, we only have dollar coins. How can I give the money with the extra dollar without weighing the envelope down? If I give a cheque instead, do I add the extra dollar to the amount I’m giving?… Continue reading

Is pick pocketing with a magnet tied to a string a problem in Canada?

I live in the USA within 200 miles of the Canadian border and go to Canada now-and-then.

A couple of years ago I accidentally discovered most Canadian coins are magnetic. Including their one and two dollar coins. I E-mailed with the Canadian mint and they answered saying their coins are 95% steel.

One of my hobbies involves using a ring magnet on a length of string. I wonder… Continue reading

Well, the British Pound is worth twice… Continue reading
