Why does USA money get mixed in Canadian money?
There is a difference between the two and I get that it would be quite difficult to remove of it all completely but I go shopping (in Canada of course) and cashiers give me back my change along with a few USA coins so am I allowed to buy items in USA with Canadian money if we`re already using each other`s coins?

Both Canadian and U.S. retailers who are close to the border have made it a practice to accept money from the other country.
They post an "Exchange Rate" that always cheats the buyer out of a few cents on every dollar. Their excuse for robbing you, is that they have to take the money to the bank and exchange it.
..because americans come and shop and pay for things in american money. the american dollar is worth slightly less then the canadian dollar so currency exchange isn’t necessary.
Are you 8 years old? What part of your question defies your understanding?
We don’t
Till Bush’s wild spending on Iraq, the Canadian dollar was worth about 75 American cents.
Which led most people in the US to routinely refuse Canadian change. No bank will take Canadian change and only a stupid clerk would take rolled change at that time, without opening it.
US businesses hate to take Canadian money because they know they’ll get ripped off on the exchange rate by the bank. Canadian businesses would always take it because they knew they could rip off the customer on the exchange rate and then use it when they visited America, since 90% of the Canadian population lives within two hundred kilometers of the American border.
Canadians have long made a practice o shopping in the US, as it avoided some taxes. In contrast most traffic to Canada is for tourism. That 18 year old drinking age alone means any border town has a tourism industry.
